I’ve been noodling with this idea for years, and like so many of us weekend coders, Claude Code broke the logjam.

This displays a 24-hour animation look-ahead of the predicted, astronomical tides along the west coast of the U.S. and up three tributaries to San Francisco Bay. If you ever wanted to see, say, the lag in the tides from the Golden Gate to Alviso, or wondered what the relationship between tides in Los Angeles to tides in Washington were, well, here ya go.

Does not show impacts to the tides from storm surge, Kelvin waves or El Niño-induced water expansion.
